Responsive Web DesignIn epoch time of smartphone and tablets we are lucky to see the changing phase of internet. The emergence of high-tech smartphones, iphone, ipad and tablet has totally changed the ratio of PC’s and laptop’s purchase.  As these high-tech gadgets are enough capable to perform the same tasks as PC’s and laptop does therefore the demand of handheld devices has increased and use of PC’s and laptop is decreasing day by day.

People with this changing phase are more likely to use their smart gadgets rather than PC’s and Laptop as they find it more convenient. People are engaging more and more with newly designed handheld gadgets as they can even access internet and their favorite websites on it. By looking at the demand and scenario of these devices, the business experts are quite concerned over their websites.

They want their general website to be responsive so that their clients or visitors can access their website even on their smartphones, tablets and many more devices. As a result the “Responsive web design” is in lime light and its demand is very high. You can even say responsive web design has become the requirement of every website owner.

A responsive web design is a blend of layout and coding done in such a way that the website offers an optimal viewing experience to the viewer. Easy to maintain: As there is only one website for desktop, mobiles, tablets etc so it becomes easy to maintain rather than updating all versions differently.  It is even easy to add a new web page, editing content etc for all versions at the same time.

SEO: Instead of building links and optimizing content for multiple sites, responsive design creates a single model that is simple to update and optimized for all devices, which offers a better seo on the website.

Boost sales: Easy and convenient access to the website through the handy devices enable customers to often visit the site anytime, which boosts the sale nicely.

April 8th, 2013

Recently, a confused web Designer called us to drift out confusion about Responsive Web Design. Before becoming member of expensive Online Web Design Tutorial, this Web Designer read Responsive Web Design is Not the Future  . This web designer is member of a new web designers community which accept that The future mobile Web will be one where adaptive websites are indistinguishable from apps but they feels annoy due to common Responsive Design Mistakes & problems .

2013 is the year of Responsive Web Design, it is a well-known statement in web design industry. It has been seen that its arrival brought new developments in the design, size, quality, resolution and size, be it computer screen, mobile or tablet. With this new innovation and development the website looks prettier and technical trickery. If we talk technically then a number of facts come in front of you that prove its positive existence and demand. A responsive web design uses “media queries” to figure out what resolution of device it’s being served on. To correctly fit on the screen, flexible images and fluid grids are made that makes responsive web design more friendly and attractive.

You can have a look on the example to know about responsive web design functionality. Example: If you’re viewing the content on a desktop then obviously the content would be in large size. But, if you’re viewing the content on a small screen then the browser window gets smaller and automatically the content also get shrink. The images and content column will shrink, later the sidebar will disappear altogether. On the homepage, you’ll see the layout shrink from three columns, to two columns, to a singular column of content. Well, responsive web design has gained an enormous amount of momentum since its introduction in 2010 through an article, but still the designers & SEO gets Hiccups due to some of its disadvantages. Being too popular in web design industry, the responsive web design also considered as not into future as there are many reasons behind this fact. Some of the aspects of its failure are

  • Responsive websites are not much smaller in download size when viewed on smaller devices
  • The difference between a desktop user and a mobile user is not only screen size. Responsive websites are limited for utilizing features such as software potential, user location, connectivity, device limitations and user needs.
  • With the rapid growth of web and future improvements in screen technology, it would be a foolishness to label responsive web design as the future.

New mobile device with different screen resolution

Designers and SEO get into problem when a new mobile device comes in market with new screen resolution. The new device carries different screen resolution because of which the responsive web design doesn’t work properly and it become headache for clients as well as designers. As designers don’t know about the upcoming device and its features therefore they can’t make responsive web design according to imagination.
